The 'REOL code of practice' sets out the standards of service and professionalism expected of each and every member of the REOL team. Team members have an obligation and responsibility to meet these standards.
The purpose of the 'code' is to ensure clients and customers of REOL receive the highest level of professional service.
All employees of REOL agree to and abide by the following 'code of practice.'
As a member of the REOL team you are expected to be professional and competent in every aspect of the business. This includes but is not limited to conduct, behaviour, manner, attire, presentation, self management and of course performance.
Appraising properties for sale
Always be truthful with prospective clients. Do not 'buy' your listings. Be prepared to back up your opinions with facts. Provide sound professional advise.
Your Vendor
- You are working for your vendor, understand their expectations.
- Outline your expectations of them.
- Be diligent and dedicated in fulfilling your duties.
- Explain in detail the entire sales process.
- Advise your vendor on how to best prepare their home for sale.
- Provide a copy of all paperwork to your vendor or their solicitor.
- Ensure the vendor understands what they are signing.
- Clarify all expenses and charges. There should never be any surprises.
- List your client’s property at a premium but achievable price.
- Prepare an appropriate marketing programme.
- Generate the maximum level of buyer interest.
- Keep your vendor well informed and up to date.
- Negotiate the highest possible sale price.
- If you are away and not contactable, organise an alternative contact.
- After you have achieved a successful sale, continue to liaise with your vendor right up to settlement to ensure there are no complications.
- Always do your best!
The Buyer
- Listen to your buyers needs and requirements.
- Advise them to register on line. If they can't you should register their details.
- If a suitable property is listed, your buyer should be informed immediately.
- Treat you buyer with respect and always be honest.
- Never attempt to deceive a buyer.
- If required outline beneficial interest and always complete a disclosure statement.
- Clearly explain any paperwork which requires signing.
- Provide a copy of all paperwork to the buyer or their nominated solicitor.
Always Consider:
- You actions should enhance the reputation of REOL - A quality reputation generates positive word of mouth advertising.
- Keep up to date with the real estate market and its trends.
- Abide by appropriate legislation and always act lawfully.
- Being honest with people will help foster a trusting relationship.
- Reliability is paramount. Stick to your word - never over promise, never under deliver.
- Ethics - High ethical standards at REOL is a prerequisite to employment.
- Integrity - As a real estate professional you are put in a position of trust. This trust must never be betrayed. Your moral values will dictate your actions.
- Respectful - We deal with people from all walks of life - treat everyone equally and professionally “treat others as you would like to be treated"
- Professionalism and punctuality go hand in hand - if you're going to be late, phone.
- As a real estate professional you are regularly put in situations where diplomacy is required - never waiver - each occasion is a test of your fortitude.
- Do the right thing not because you must, because you should - it will be reciprocated.
- Service - we are in a service industry, it is a measure of our worth, to surpass the competition you become the competition
- Feedback - client - Whilst we endeavour to make the sale process stress free for the vendor it is impossible to eliminate it completely. As such never have your client guessing about what is going on - keep them informed and up to date from start to finish
- Improvement - Reol has invested heavily in providing our team with a state of the art system. If there is any aspect of the business which you feel can be improved you are strongly encouraged to suggest them. Your ideas will always be discussed and looked at.
- Time is precious - Do not waste your time, never waste someone else's time.
- Efficiency is the key to success. Never cut corners but always remain efficient.
- Self development - as a REOL team member you should avoid stagnation. Never become stale or bored in your career. At REOl we provide and encourage ongoing training. REOL is a company which promotes self development. Continually strive to improve.
